Higher Level & Standard Level Bifurcation

In the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, courses are offered at two levels: Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL). Here are the key differences between the two:

HL courses are more challenging and cover more content than SL courses. They require more class time and more coursework, but can also provide students with a deeper understanding of the subject matter. SL courses are less intense and cover less content, but can still be challenging and can provide students with a strong foundation in the subject

  • Depth and breadth of content
  • Difficulty level
  • University credit
  • Length of course
  • Exam weighting
